Post by bbadmin »

This problem is fixed in TextPad 8.8.1

Workaround:
  • From the Configure menu, choose Preferences.
  • Select Editor, in the left column.
  • Uncheck "Enable .editorconfig".
  • Click OK.

Is TextPad crashing large files?

Hello,

Windows 7, 64bit TP 8.8.1 64bit

Recently I have experienced a number of BSOD crashes. These are always when I am working on TP, but I am always working on TP and my computer is getting on. I ran a memory test and hard disk test and there are no bad sectors. It seems to be happening when I am working on very large files this latest time 25,000 lines, also I believe associated with not saving frequently or copy and paste.

Although this has happened 3 times in the past couple of months, it has happened in the past; 2 or three times separated by as much as six months.

One more thing that may be significant: When crashed, it starts up again immediately. Of course what was not saved is lost. I thought I did disable immediate restart, so I am thinking this may be something on the side of what is causing the crashes. It goes by too quickly to see any messages.

I don't see what I can do about this, so it is just a matter of information.

OK. I see there is a problem like this for 8.8.0 said to be fixed in 8.8.1. Maybe not fixed?

I just applied the work-around so we will see.
Thank you, and
Best Wishes,
