How to downgrade to Version 7 from Version 8

Post by mike777 »

I inadvertently installed Version 8 over a Version 7 previous installation.
It did not tell me that I would be losing my license info, it just proceeded.

Now I'm in the situation where I'm running an unlicensed version and my company does not want to upgrade at this time.

I need to uninstall v8 and reinstall v7. I know how to do that.

My question is how do I get back to v7 without losing all my settings and wks files?

Thanks

I heard back from Support with the answer, so here it is:

FROM SUPPORT:
TextPad 7 and 8 run independently from each other, so TextPad 7 should still exist on your computer. Go to C:\Program Files\TextPad 7 and double click TextPad.exe. Create a separate shortcut for it.
---

I did that and it worked. So I uninstalled TPv8. TPv8 did mess up my wks file, but luckily I had a backup for that. Once I restored the wks file, everything was working again.

Now I can get back to work.

Thank you to Support for helping out!
