When using Outlook 2007 or 2010 (and probably 2012/2013) if I try to send file as email, then after a few seconds TextPad locks up, Outlook locks up, and I get a beep + "Cannot switch to application, server is busy" message no matter what I do. Very frustrating!
This has been a problem for maybe the past three years.
I've seen this issue under Vista and Windows 7. I'm using Windows 7 atm.

In our software, we solved a similar issue by running the MAPI interface in a separate thread, so that it could be locked up synchronously with Outlook until outlook finished the MAPI session.
I suspect that would work for you... though maybe there are other solutions?
Very frustrating issue - and setting "send as attachment" doesn't make a difference - both apps hang in MAPI no matter what.
