When will "proper" regular expression syntax be im

Post by joconnell »

Every time I use REs for search/replace in TextPad, I have to switch my brain from the commonly found RE syntax to the rather long-winded one in TP.

Please can we have an option for "regular" RE syntax i.e. \d \s etc

Please?

Too many RE variants exist

I have seen at least a dozen variants of RE syntax, going back to Multics days. The firm I worked for at that time even had its own version as an excellent variant. TP's current version seems to work well for most things one would do in TP even though it differs from most or all other variants. If it didn't work well, I would have cause to complain.

I would rather have the TP people work on the workspace-restoration problem.

You'll be pleased to know that TextPad 7 implements Perl/Javascript compatible regular expressions!
