Editing Workspace file locations

Post by tonyc »

I have a workspace with about 30 or 40 remote files. Many of the files within the workspace where moved to a new server recently. When I launch the "TWS" file, they appear to be removed from the workspace file.

I have the original TWS file. Is there a way to opened the TWS file and update it to reflect the new location of the files?

I basically want to open the file and replace "\\oldeserver" with "\\newserver".

Thanks,
Tony

The TWS files are binary files, so you can't edit them with TextPad. If your old and new servers have names that are the same length, you may be able to use a hex editor (see here for some examples) to overwrite the name of the old server with the new. If the server names are of different lengths, you're probably out of luck.

That's exactly what I ended up doing. Fortunately the server name lengths are the same and everything came in perfectly.

Thanks!
