Can Textpad highlight text?

Post by jjohnson78214 »

I just want to highlight text so that it'll be easier to locate.

You can leave bookmarks on lines that you want to return to later. The bookmark commands are on the Search menu. Does that help?

As far as I know there's no way to do this. You can:
  • Highlight the current line
  • Highlight text according to a syntax definition file
  • Change the colour of the bookmark symbol
But I don't think any of those are what you're after.

One possibility would be to create a syntax file for a new document class - may not fit your needs, but if you have constant text in a document that you what to highlight then this may be a method.

Have a read up in the help.

jjohnson78214,

May I ask what sort of file this is?

.txt, .ini, .etc
(2[Bb]|[^2].|.[^Bb])

That is the question.

Hi, the file type I'm working with is just a text file. I just want to highlight some text highlighted for emphasis.

I created a Class for .tx2 files. Plain text, but with Tabs converted to Spaces and Trailing Spaces automatically stripped.

You could do the same thing here. Make it .tx2 (or whatever), create a new Class, and create a Syntax Definition for it.

A perhaps less onerous route might be to use a Word Processor. There is the one made by You Know Who, but it costs, and if you don't already have it I cannot see spending the money. However, OpenOffice.org is totally free.
(2[Bb]|[^2].|.[^Bb])

That is the question.
