Bug w/saving?

I have experienced this problem multiple times with v5.4.2 and previous versions. I am on Vista 64-bit. If I press CTRL-S to save, sometimes it takes more than a few sec to finish, and if I press CTRL-S again, my whole computer appears to lock up on me. When it happens, no keypresses seem to work (like CTRL-ALT-DEL).

I was wondering if it's something you can fix, or if you know a way to avoid this problem or recover from the problem. Other than, obviously, not pressing save again so soon. The reason is sometimes I'm typing rapidly and press save, and then I correct a number and want to save again right away. I learned not to do it most of the time, because of the consequences.

My post before was not well explained. It's not just with double saving. It's whenever I try to save and the cursor is busy. It seems like it goes busy sometimes when I'm just doing simple actions like deleting a few lines or pasting some lines or other actions I'm sure.
