Hi,

I would like to have the possibility to place a vertical line on screen, so that I can see if I am exceeding my defined maximum characters per line for that document class.

The sooner the better.

I would like to have the possibility to place a vertical line on screen, so that I can see if I am exceeding my defined maximum characters per line for that document class.

This is my most wanted enhancement as well. As a crude substitute, you can enable line number display and then enable "word wrap" at the desired maximum column. This will give you some immediate visual feedback if you exceed the maximum line length (i.e., oops, backspace, carrage return).
