I'm finding that TextPad and Notepad2 will not display the Eastern Language Characters, when opening the file in Textpad 5.4 a warning pops up which says "... contains characters that do not exist in code page 1252". However Word 2003, EditPlus3 and BeyondCompare have no trouble in displaying the correct characters.
Is there a solution for this please?

Having same problem
I'm having the same problem, despite switching on all the UTF-8 and Unicode options I can find in Preferences and in the "Save As" file dialog. This is very frustrating as I'm trying to develop multilingual PHP files that support Russian and Chinese (and also Western languages). Please help.

On further inspection...
It appears we're not the first Textpad customers onto this topic:

(A thread full of frustrated Textpad customers who just can't get around this issue despite commercial motivation to do so.)
Perhaps the Textpad developers will deign to give some indication as to their intentions?
