syn file not working in Textpad 5.3.1

i have just upgraded from 4.0 to 5.3.1 and cannot get my customised .syn file to work. I have tried copying it in bot the samples and sytem folder with no success. Any ideas please?

The syntax definition files listed in the option drop-down include 32 entries. Despite copying more .syn files into the "System" and "Samples" folders, I cannot get more options to show in the list!

Have you tried copying the syntax file into the folder which is configured for Syntax (Configure - Preferences - Folder - Syntax)?
