I frequently use VERY long filenames (50+ chars). Textpad happily truncates these long filenames in the tab at the top of the pane to a more manageable length (good thing!). However, if the file is unsaved, the "unsaved changes notification asterisk" is truncated away as well when the filename is shorten. The same thing happens in the document selector pane if that pane is narrower than the very long filename.
TP does indicate the asterisk after the filename in the top TP window banner but only when the pane in question is the active pane. When I don't have that pane as the active one, I have no indication that there are unsaved changes on these long filenames.
Perhaps TP could append the asterisk after the truncation has taken place, something like this:
a_very_long_filename_that_is_sure_to_be_trunca...*
Rather than:
a_very_long_filename_that_is_sure_to_be_truncated_to_a_shorter.name*
And then truncating this to:
a_very_long_filename_that_is_sure_to_be_trunca...
This does not sound like a difficult thing to fix.
Unsaved changes asterisk truncated from very long filenames
