WE2 Install problem EDITED # EDITED AGAIN

Hello. I guess I get to be first.

I downloaded the update, no apparent problem.

I first installed over the old version, then removed the old version and attempted to install again.

The install appears to go without problems, but when trying to open WE I get this message:
The dynamic link library MSVCR90.dll could not be found in the specified path: X:\P\wildedit;.;C:WINNT\system32;C: ... many others (if these are important I will supply.

I will next attempt to download to a keyfob and install via that method which has sometimes solved install programs on my

Windows 2000 SP 4 OS

Attempted install from keyfob failed in the same way as above.
I downloaded on a Vista computer to a keyfob, tried to install from the keyfob.

Now the problem is I don't have WE at all. Is there some way to get the previous version? I didn't see such on the download page.

I tried one more trick: downloading and then shutting down the computer and restarting. This sometimes works. No go here.

I downloaded 2.0, did an install over my previoius copy of WildEdit. Appeared to install OK with no problems. I opened TextPad and launched WildEdit and version 2.0 opened up with no problems. Seems to fine for me.

Tested on XP PRO - SP3.

Only install problem I encountered was that I had to re-enter my License Info.

Mike,

Looks like we omitted a Windows 2000 dependency in the WildEdit 2 download. The solution is to download and run vcredist_x86.exe from here.

Should this be installed by all users of WildEdit 2 or only if exhibiting these symptoms? Will a revised download be identified with a different version/release number?

vcredist_x86.exe is only needed if WildEdit won't run because it can't find MSVCR90.dll.

No changes will be made to WildEdit, so its version number will stay the same. We'll update the date and size of the download, and add a note to explain why.

The WildEdit installer has been modified to eliminate the dependency on msvcr90.dll. This makes no functional difference to the application, but if you want to reinstall it, make sure you uninstall your existing installation first. Overwriting that installation will have no effect.
