Accept forward shlashes in path names

I switch a lot between Linux, cygwin and Windows and it would be really helpful if I could cut and paste filenames with forward slashes into the file selection box, like c:/Documents and Settings/... and open them from the command line (textpad.exe "c:/Documents and Settings/...")
MS Office apps allow that.
