Menu Alt+Key shortcuts no longer work.

Post by Mr. Code Monkey »

The normal windows-style keyboard shortcuts stopped working.

For example, press Alt+E. The Edit menu pops up.

But then, press H. Instead of opening the Cut Other submenu, the letter H will be inserted in the current document (even though the menu is still open and should have focus)!

No combination of preference settings seems to fix this. Upgrading from 5.2 to 5.3 did not help.

I found a couple of old threads, here, were people had similar problems, but they were not resolved.

Anybody got ideas on what broke?

Thanks,
-- Mike

Windows XP, SP3
Textpad 5.2 and 5.3

I can't reproduce this error - works as it should here. I tried both pressing H after releasing the Alt and E buttons, and not - both works!

However, the three first items on the Help menu doesn't seem to work. I must press F1 to get up Help.

 After much poking around, I found out that Comodo "upgraded" my firewall settings. It was stopping Textpad from installing a global keyboard hook (used by spyware).

Set textpad to "trusted application" in the Comodo firewall settings and the keyboard shortcuts work again.

If Textpad is now spying on my computer, I have no idea how those pictures got there!
