Selecting Text with Mouse, wrong highlight

Post by ericlemmons »

When I select text with the mouse, it seems like the HIGHLIGHED text is 3 or for characters, or spaces off from what I select.
For example, if I try to select:

this is MY SELECTION ( caps represent selection)
The highlight will be my SELECTION

It seems like the problem occurs when I anchor the selection by using the left mouse button to start the selection. The cursor will start highlighting from 1 to 4 characters to the right of where I try to anchor it.

By chance, is "Use Microsoft's conventions for mouse click selection" enabled under Configure, Preferences, Editor?

Never checked it myself but it's a thought

it occured under following circumstances
- TextPad Window on 2nd display
- no tabs for the TextPad windows (I'm using filelist)
- 2 files open besides, not maximized
- automatic line break is on
- long line which is breaked
- position cursor on last column of (upper) line which is breaked
- '->' key => cursor is positioned AFTER 1 character of (lower) breaked line
- click in the window in the very left of the lower line, cursor is positioned after the 3rd character (expected: in front of 1st)
- not reproduceable always (sometimes as expected)

general strange (and not reproducible) cursor behaviour at end of (upper) breaked line: sometimes '->' key does not change cursor position at all
