Hi all,
I've long loved TextPad (used it for like ~10 years now). But I can't stand the hang that occurs when you run a deep search in files for a given string of text.
Can we get a patch / fix that interrupts the search every x seconds to look for/allow the user to cancel?
It seems that the search occurs without any throttling, and thus there is no CPU left to allow the user to break out.
TextPad effectively hangs, and all I can do to continue is do a 3-finger salute.
PS I'm running TextPad5.2 on WinXPSP3, AMD Athlon64 X2 Dual Core, 4400+ 2.21 Ghz, 1.93 GB of RAM
Find In Files... wait... CPU spikes... TextPad Locks up...

Me too...
I originally posted this before finding yours had come first:
I've had this problem a long time, and I can't see anything mentioned previously in the forums. When using 'Find in files', TextPad locks up and becomes unresponsive for up to a minute or more, depending upon how big/deep the directory being searched is. When it recovers, it only then looks like it's actually performing the search, so I'm not sure what the initial hang is.
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
N
