Printing Courier New Font

Post by rspies »

In TextPad (5.2), I can DISPLAY all sizes of the Courier New font. However, when I attempt to specify Courier New for PRINTING, I'm only given the choices of sizes 9 and 24. This isn't the case in any other application, nor did it used to be the case in TextPad. (I suspect the restriction began when I upgraded to v5.) Any idea how I can fix it?

Thanks.

I can set Courier New font to the same range of font sizes for Printing as for screen and printing is OK.

Would your problem have anything to do with your printer settings?

I am using TextPad 5.2

I don't think it has anything to do with printer settings--at least there's nothing I can find. As I mentioned, all applications other than TextPad are able to print using the same Courier New sizes that they can display text using.

I just noticed that when I choose "Printer" in TextPad's font dialog, the icon for Courier New changes from the TrueType icon to a Printer icon. This doesn't happen with any other font.

That implies you do not have the same font set for display and printer. Specifically, you are not using the TTF for printing. You are probably using the Courier font, not the Courier New font. I would try changing it, and then see if you can change the size.

I don't have "Courier" available as a choice for font--only "Courier New". When in TextPad I change the font "Scope" from "Screen" to "Printer" or "Both", the icon for Courier New changes from a TrueType font to a Printer font. In all applications other than TextPad, Courier New is available as a TrueType font for both viewing and printing.

OK, have you tried changing it to a TTF?

I'm not sure I understand what you're suggesting. The Courier New installed on my system IS a TT font, and all applications other than TextPad see and treat it that way. TextPad treats Courier New as a TT font for Screen. However, as soon as I choose "Printer" or "Both", the Courier New font's icon changes to a Printer in TextPad's font selection dialog. I don't have control over this.
