Hi,
I've been a happy TextPad user for over eight years now. One thing I'd like to see is an icon that I could put on the toolbar to toggle Block Select Mode on and off. I use that feature quite often and it really bugs me that I can't activate it with a single click. In fact, I used a competing text editor for a while because it could toogle Block Select. I switched back to TextPad because it still has a better feature set.
Thanks for your great program.

I like that idea, too.
In the mean time, try mapping Alt+B, which is available by default, to the Block Select Mode command. A good keyboard shortcut is the next best thing to a tool button.
Configure -> Preferences... -> Keyboard -> Configure -> ToggleBlockSelect

I came in on 4.5 in 2001, moved to 4.7.2 in 2004, moved to 4.7.3 in 2007, moved to 5.4 in 2010, and am excited about 2013. I've said it many times before, and I'll say it many times again: "I love this program."
This is already possible, so it should not be in the enhancement request category ...
In Textpad 5.2 the following works:
Close all Textpad instances.
Open a new Textpad instance without files.
Right-Click on Toolbar, choose "Customize"
In the dialog, select "Commands" tab.
In the left list, select "Configure".
Drag "Block Select Mode" from dialog to the place on the toolbar where you want to have it.
You now have a text button "Block Select Mode" on the toolbar.
DO NOT YET CLOSE the customize dialog!
Right-Click on that button, choose "Change Button Image".
Choose an image (one that comes closest to what you want as image for that button)
Instead of the text button, you now have an image button.
If the image is not exactly what you want:
Right-Click on the image button, choose "Edit Button Image"
Edit the image till you like the result, then click "Ok"
You now have the image button with your own image.
Now close the customize dialog.
Close Textpad.
When you now restart Textpad, the button will still be there.
