1) make an option for trimming trailing spaces
2) use Dbl-Click or Ctrl+Click for closing a document tab!

Configure | Preferences | Document Classes | <Class> | Strip trailing spaces from lines when saving
or
View | Document Properties | Preferences | Strip trailing spaces from lines when saving.
