Transparent right edge

I have a dual monitor setup with one screen resolution at 1024 X 768 and the other at 1280 X 1024. When I maximize textpad in the larger resolution the right edge of the screen is transparent and when I scroll the contents that scroll onto the screen is gibberish.

Any ideas?
