Opening Workspace

Post by Alan-LB »

If I open several files then save the workspace with a given name, then close all files, then open the workspace (with the correct name) again no files appear in the window.

If I close TextPad and reopen it the workspace appears OK.

I am using TextPad 5.1.0 under Windows XP Pro SP2.

I am very new to TextPad so sorry if there is an answer to thid that I haven't found

The workspace holds the current state of your editing session. When you open a workspace, TextPad saves the session state in the current workspace (if there is one) and closes it. It does this even if the one you're opening and the current one are the same workspace. When you reopen a workspace, your editing state will be the same as when you closed it. If it was empty when you closed it, it will be empty when you reopen it.

And if you close TextPad and reopen it the workspace will still be empty.

Thanks for your reply - I didn't realise that the Workspace would be overwritten on closing TextPad.

I am very impressed with Textpad and will make it my default editor - congratulations to the programmers.
