Broken behavior: recent file list in the File menu

Post by kevinHealy »

Suppose I have a ton of files open. Then I close one of them. Does that just closed file appear in the recent file list in the File menu?

Maybe yes, maybe no: Textpad seems to behave randomly.

Actually, the circumstances when I typically notice that the just closed file does not appear on that list is when it is a file that has been open for editing for a long time.

Maybe the algorithm that Textpad is using for the recent files is not the time when a file was recently closed, but the time when it was opened. This would explain why long lived files do not appear on the list when closed.

This behavior drives me nuts because after I close a file, I often realise that there was something else that I need to edit in it, but if it is not on the list, then I need to hunt for it in the file system, which can be a pain.

I would love to see this behavior changed.
