TextPad 5 scroll down bug

Post by vt_dave »

In textpad 5 i have noticed a bug that makes scrolling down very problematic.

Scenario:
line 1 and 2 are blank
line 3 is a long line of text (with out word wrap enabled) that scrolls off the "page"
line 4 is blank
line 5 is some small text
line 6 is blank

to reproduce:
down arrow to line 3, hit "End"
hit the down arrow once more to jump to position 1 in line 4
hit the down arrow again.
You would expect the cursor to jump to the end of line 5, however it jumps to char 1 in line 1 and you can no longer arrow down. Hitting arrow up gives the alert that you are at the top of the file. Hitting arrow down does nothing. Only after moving left or right can you use the down arrow again.

This problem makes it impossible to hit "end" and just down arrow through a file, because as soon as the page has to jump to the right for a long line, then back to a shorter line, the caret will jump to pos 1 line 1 on the next press.

This has caused me to roll back to Textpad 4.

Thanks
-Dave

p.s. This is a dupe from a post in the WildEdit, but appears more bugs get posted here.

Sorry for the dbl post

Cursor jumps to top and stuck

I found the same thing. I usually am editing files greater than 100 lines but less than 2,000 lines. This happens often.

Very annoying.

I can also join in on this rather annoying occourence.

From my experience it doesn't jump to line 1, but instead to the first visible line from the top, which of course doesn't have to be line 1.
You can still move up then, but as described, not down.

Has a mod / dev seen this post?

Is there any indication that this is now a known issue and people are working to fix it?

A little feedback would be great, thanks.

We are aware of this particular bug, and it will be fixed in the next maintenance upgrade.
