An Error occured while downloading the file /WindowsInstaller-KB893803-x86.exe
What Do You like to do:

Retry is of no help
I have manually downloaded and installed the file WindowsInstaller-KB893803-x86.exe
To no positive effect

What shall I do?

Just curious......did you download the file "WindowsInstaller-KB893803-x86.exe" or the file "WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe"? Because the file "WindowsInstaller-KB893803-x86.exe" had some issues and is no longer available to download from Microsoft i think.
Are you also sure that windows installer 3.1 is installed successfully on your computer because this sounds like a windows installer issue and not like a issue with the textpad installer.
You can check the version of msi.dll under windows\system32 to see if windows installer 3.1 v2 is installed or not. The version should be 3.1.4000.2435 or newer.

Having checked msi.dll: version is older - 3.1.4000.1823. And You are right, i downloaded the ...exe file not from MS, it was another site.
So I should look for the file you porpose: WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe and try again.
After a reboot I will be back...

Hi Gan,

Now the msi.dll has the required version 3.1.4000.2435 - and the installation of Textpad 5 went as expected: fine!

Thank You for Your help.

Glad you solved the problem. I guess it would be better if Helios included windows installer 3.1 or if the installation program gave you the option to download windows installer directly from Microsoft using the correct url. You are not the first one asking about this and since the installation program try to download the wrong file as well it get even more confusing.
