I don't use tabs for web browsing, editing, etc. since that's what the Windows taskbar is for. I like each file to open in a separate, maximized TextPad window, but it's not working as well in version 5.
First of all, I get files to open in a new window (instead of an existing one) by unchecking "Use DDE" in the Windows file type settings. Is there a better way to do it?
Disabling DDE still works for me in 5, and the first window is maximized, but subsequent files come up in unmazimized windows. It worked right in 4.7.
Any ideas?
P.S. TP 5 is also noticeably slower to pop up. It's still well under 1 second, but it used to come up almost instantly.

Okay, I assume it's the same problem reported here:

However, I'm still curious if anyone has a better way to get files to open in new TextPad windows. I shouldn't have to play around with the Windows file type settings. And yes, I have it set to allow multiple instances. The problem is that TextPad enables DDE for file associations, and DDE uses the existing window (if there is one).
