Enhanced bracket matching.

Post by Nicodareus »

Just a mild suggestion. I've been using textpad for years now to build on my MUD, but one thing it has never done as well as every linux text editor I've used is bracket matching. The 3 I really did most of my work in would match the bracket for you real time. When your text cursor was to the right of the bracket/parentheses/whatever, the matching bracket would have a small mark similar to half of an underline under it. And in the program I preferred, that marker would flash. It was very convenient when closing up clusters of brackets to see what matched where just by moving your active cursor over it (Not mouse cursor). With Textpad the 'match bracket' option has never really appealed to me and always been more of a hassle than anything.

I'm not criticizing textpad at all, as I have no other problems with it at this point (Well, other than the fact that textpad 5 seems to give windows fits about whether files actually exist or not, but thats more of a technical issue..) But, with this added function there wouldnt be any difference between using it and the previous linux text editors I have experience with.. Except all the other added functionality and features that textpad offers. But that's beside the point.

Aha.. Well.. That was 4 years ago. I feel it's worth rementioning. It's an extremely invaluable feature that I can't believe has gone unfathomed for so long.
