The "Help" topic, "How to Use Bookmarks" says:

"To Extend the Selection to the Next Bookmark":

"From the Search menu, choose the Go To command. Check the Next Bookmark and Extend Selection options on the Go To dialog box, then click OK"

Is there a way to extend the selection to the PREVIOUS bookmark".

Yes. But you need a macro.
code
position cursor at origin line.
create bookmark
go to previous bookmark
go to next bookmark, extend selection
code

Not the best -- can't get rid of the temporary bookmark.
