After I had to re-install Windows 2000 and therefore also TextPad 4.7.3, it does not find my macros any more, though I had configured TextPad again. Especially the Folders setting for Macros is set correctly to the folder where I keep all my personal TextPad stuff like workspaces, syntax files etc.. The workspaces are found, the syntax files work, the Explorer shows the macros, but when I click on Macros, everything but Record is grey.
Any idea what can be wrong?

This sounds like you are talking about Macros not being listed on the Main Menu>Macros drop down?
After the folder path is set for the macro locations, do:
Configure>Preferences>Macros>
Select from the Macros available, then click on Add.
Do for each macro you want on the list.
Click Apply/OK.
