Running TextPad under OS X

Post by SteveH »

Has anyone tried running TextPad under Mac OS X using Crossover Mac?

Crossover Mac is based upon WINE and allows Windows applications to be run on Intel-based Macs with no need to install Windows. As apps such as MS Office, Beyond Compare and UltraEdit appear to work I am fairly hopeful, and will be trying it at some point in the future once I upgrade hardware.

I wonder whether this is really necessary, since MacOS X already has TextWrangler and BBEdit as very capable text editors (oh and they both support unicode ;) )

OS X has ssooo many good text editors that the user is spoiled for choice.

I have a couple of Windows-only applications that I could do with running where the OS X equivalents suck, so it seemed worth adding my favourite editor too.

I agree Unicode is pretty much vital these days :?

Turns out that it does work, surprisingly well, but not as good as a native text editor. You can even add Windows programs to the dock using Crossover.

I've uploaded a screenshot to Flickr showing TextPad running alongside BBEdit.
