Inserting the file name?

Post by GIS_USER »

Is there a way to insert each file name into a specific place in the document? I know there is a way to use &f while creating a header/footer when printing, but I want to be able to insert the file name as text into the actual document.

Thanks,
Pete

Just click on Edit/Insert/File Name.

This will include the full path and filename at the position of the cursor.

This option will be greyed out if you have not previously saved the file.
Hope this was helpful.............good luck,

Thanks, however what it does is insert the entire path; ie. "C:\Program Files\TextPad 4\README.TXT". I would like it to only insert "README".

Create a macro to insert the filename then delete the path.
Assign a hot key to the macro, or pick from Macro menu.
Hope this was helpful.............good luck,
