collapsable selections

Forgive me if this has already been suggested. What I would really, really love is a way to collapse/expand selections of text. This would be especially helpful when working with large files when All you want to see is the part of the page that you're editing. I know there is a horizontal split bar and I use it quite frequently. But I think being able to collapse an entire selection, or multiple selections, no matter how large or small, would be great.
