Copy syntax highlighted text in RTF to clipboard

Post by mroshaw »

Hi,

I've had a search around the forum but can't find an answer to this:

Is there a way to copy syntax highlighted text as Rich Text into the clipboard?

I want to paste some code from Textpad into an e-mail and retain the colouring.

Thanks in advance!

AFAIK that's not possible in a direct way. As a workaround, you could print to a PDF printer (PDF Creator for instance, which is free), then copy the text from Adobe Reader to your email application.
Before printing from TP, check the option "In color", from Configure | Preferences | Document classes | <your class> | Printing, or from View | Document Properties | Printing.

I like the idea of taking the current syntax colouring and being able to transform the file to html, reflecting how that file is displayed on the screen. One for 5.0 maybe...

Select the text you are interested in. Then
Edit | Copy Other | As a HTML Page
Then paste it into a fresh document.
