Hi,
I have two printers I print to at work. Originally I was printing to PRINTER A but now I want to print to PRINTER B. PRINTER B is my default printer for every application except Textpad where it defaults to PRINTER A. I changed it in the configure ->preferences -> document classes -> default -> printing. However if I just start up textpad and type in "Hello World" then try and print, the default is still PRINTER A. Am I missing something? Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?
Thanks,
Mark
Change The Default Printer

Did you check the option to Restart with default printer, on the Printing Preferences page for each Document class?
If you want to change the default printer for all applications, you can use Start/Control Panel/Printers and Faxes. Right click the relevant printer and choose "Set as Default Printer".

Hi,
When I go to FILE -> PRINT, the printer that is displayed is PRINTER A. When I check Document Classes -> Printing, then click on the printer button, it displays PRINTER B. Yes, I did check restart with default printer and PRINTER B is my default printer. I am at a loss to explain it. I can print to PRINTER B, but I always have to change the printer from A to B. I am open to any other suggestions.
Thanks,
Mark

Did you change your default printer as previously described:
When making any configuration changes in TextPad, please ensure that you only have one instance running, as it is the last instance to close which writes the information to the registry. If you want to change the default printer for all applications, you can use Start/Control Panel/Printers and Faxes. Right click the relevant printer and choose "Set as Default Printer".

Hi,
The default printer has been PRINTER B for over a month. Again, when I go to FILE -> PRINT, the printer that is displayed is PRINTER A. When I check Document Classes -> Printing, then click on the printer button, it displays PRINTER B.
I even started Textpad, typed in hello, changed the printer to PRINTER B, saved the document. exitted Textpad, started Textpad, brought up the document I saved, looked at FILE -> PRINT and the printer still says PRINTER A.
All other programs work correctly. I only bring up one instance of Textpad. I am open to suggestions.
Thanks,
Mark

Assuming you saved your test file as a .txt file, please try the following:
From the Configure menu choose:
1. Preferences
2. "+" sign next to Document classes
3. "+" sign next to Text
4. Printing
5. If it hasn't already been enabled, tick "Restart with default printer"
6. Click Apply
7. Click on Printer and check which printer is selected. If it isn't already Printer B, you could change it to that, although it isn't actually necessary to do that.
8. Click Apply / OK.
9. Exit from TextPad
10. Restart TextPad, open your test file and try File/Print.
Which printer do you see?

default printers from print switch
I am trying to print from ms batch (textpad.exe -p "file"). I programatically reset the default printer midstream. I have encountered the exact same problem. Textpad does not pick up the default, it "defaults" to the same printer no matter what I do (sort of the "printer a" mentioned earlier). I've checked the response of notepad and word, and they are correctly picking up the default printer.
I was excited about preferences/doc class/default printer set default on restart. The "printer" button even popped up the panel showing the default printer. But when I shut down Textpad and restart it, it is back to the non-default printer.
What gives here?
