search tied to document

I am running into a small quirk/difference in Textpad than in other editors I am used to (Specifically jEdit, Visual Stuidio.Net, zeus) the difference is how findNext tends to work. It seems how FindNext works is it will attempt to find the current selection if there is one, otherwise repeat the last find.

Is this something configurable? I find it problematic when I try to fiind strings and am working with multiple files. Often times, I do a search in one file, it finds something, leaving that selected, I then switch to a second file, do a search for a string, it may or may not find it, I then switch back to the first file to repeat that second search, but since the selection still exists, I end up looking for the wrong thing.

Anyway, thought I would ask. Thanks in advance for any input.
