UK Keyboard swiching to US Keyboard

I use a UK keyboard setup as a UK keyboard in Windows XP SP2.

Every once in a while whilst using TextPad 4.7.3 the keyboard switches to US keyboard. When I switch to any other application the keyboard is still on UK. When I close TextPad and open it again the keyboard is back to UK.

The only thing that really changes is that the " and @ gets swopped around. The Â¬ key becomes ~. Also I no longer have Â£ but instead a #. Where the # is suppoed to be I get a \ and where the ~ is supposed to be I get |. The | and \ key still functions normally.

It is really frustrating and I would like this not to happen.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

This is a known Windows bug.

Turn off the English (United States) keyboard sevice:

In Control Panel | Regional and Language options | Languages | Details... | Settings | Installed services,
remove the English (United States) input language.
