Prior to purchasing TextPad I was told by your office manager: "TextPad licenses are concurrent and you can load a 10 user license onto 100 machines as long as no more than 10 use TextPad at any one time." Now when I ask by what means is the metering accomplished I am told that "There is no machanism within TextPad to restrict the number of users to the type of license, we rely on the honest of company to restrict use."
I'm speechless and have that "deer in the headlights" stare after learning this. Surely your programmers can figure out a way to meter the licenses, or at least measure max users on a periodic basis so we can see if we need to purchase more licenses...software vendors have been doing that now for years.
Metering is paramount to ensuring compliance with licensing agreements, short of limiting ourselves to installing only on as many PC's as we purchased licenses, but then it really isn't a concurrent use license anymore, is it?
To market a concurrent use site license without providing the means to meter usage is disingenuous. To say that I am disappointed in this news is an understatement.
I look forward to the incorporation of a metering mechanism in a future release.
