i'm fairly certain that older versions didnt do this, if i have a long line of code and want to select a section with the mouse but stray up or down by a few pixels the horizontal scrolling jumps to the newly highlighted section of the adjacent line. this is very annoying and impossible to get around when the long line has short or empty lines either side of it as my original scroll start point dissapears to the right off the screen and i have to cancel, scroll back and try again.
i cant see an option to turn this off (though i may be missing it)
edit: turning off "constrain cursor to the text" doesnt really produce the desired effect. basically i'm happy if the window scrolls with the mouse pointer when i'm selecting but not when it scrolls to follow the select endpoint itself
horizontal jumping when selecting text on single long line

So it does! Moral: don't use the mouse to do this. :-)
Alternatively, turn on Configure | Block Select Mode while you're doing it.
Edit: Removed reference to Alt+Insert shortcut. It's one of my own.
