FTP, and the horrors of VI

Post by stevecooper »

Hi,

I need help from Textpad to escape the evil clutches of vi.

I'm a web developer, so I spend a lot of my time editing HTML files and PHP scripts on web servers. Since textpad doesn't do ftp open/save, I have to use other editors and programs to get, edit, save, and upload my web files. I tend to do it in one of two ways;

(1) open a shell editor on the server, and use vi or nano. (urg.)
(2) use a desktop program with integrated ftp - usually Macromedia DreamWeaver

This is a shame; TextPad has the nicest text-editing ability out there. But I spend a good portion of my day working on the web, -not- using textpad. Please help me escape the horror of using VI. Please...

I use WebDrive... maps your FTP server straight to the filesystem so any user can use it :)

Unfortunately, webdrive + textpad costs $80 - which is more than I'm able or willing to spend on it. I can afford $30 for a text editor, but $80 is uncompetitive.

There's freeware editors out there (pspad) which do it, and commercial editors for $30 (editplus). So if I have to spend more, I'll just get an editor that can do it. I am willing to pay a competitive price, though.

A bit late perhaps, sorry about that.
