Weird behavior when other programs access HDD

Hi!

My audio player is configured to write a text file containing the currently played song and its position every second. Of course, this causes a frequent disk access. Now for some strange reason, when setting TextPad to ask me what I want to do when the file I am editing changes outside the program, whenever I start selecting text with the mouse, TextPad cancels the select procedure each time that music file is written. I am not talking about editing that specific file - it happens with every file I have open.
