Sort Feature: option for "delete duplicate lines"

Post by joel.i »

Using v4.7.3 I experienced that when using the sort feature with the option "delete duplicate lines" a line will be obviously considered "duplicated" when the whole line matches (i.e. two lines are completely identical).

To my opion an additional option would be helpful, where I could restrict the criteria for the duplicate state to the specified key.

An example could be a text file containing "surname, firstname, e-mail" where I want to delete lines with the e-mail address doubled (but the name may spelled different).

Any chance to implement it or any comment?
Regards, Joern

I'm all for this, I think it's far more useful to delete on key rather than the entire line.
Then I open up and see
the person fumbling here is me
a different way to be

How would it decide which one to keep?
