slow configure / preferences

I've (re)installed TextPad 4.6.2 on two new replacement machines, and on one of them Configure/Preferences takes >30s to open. The response on other (intrinsically slower) machine is instantaneous.

The registry settings were copied from one machine to the other, so should be the same. I do have some non-default folders, but AFAICS they all refer to my local hard drives, not to networked stuff.

Any help appreciated-- I'm customizing a lot at present, trying to get the new machines to work as well as my old ones did

Try and see if installing the latest release of TP (4.7.3) makes any difference.

Nope-- I've just installed 4.7.3 and still have the very-slow-configure problem

I had a similar problem, which I cured by deleting a strange shortcut to TextPad that appeared on the Programs menu. It didn't have the TexPad icon associated to it.

I suggest that you delete all of the shortcuts to TextPad that you can find, and see if that fixes the problem.
