Select text across split window

How do split a file into two panes and then pick a point A in the 1st pane and then pick a point B in the 2nd pane so that all the text between point A and B is selected?

Not sure this is exactly what you're after, but you could try the Extend Selection feature in the Go To dialog (Search menu or Ctrl+G).

AFAIK you can't, selections in both panes are independent. It would be a nice enhancement, though.
