This didn't seem to be the same lockup problem described in known problems, or maybe I didn't see it was the same?
Windows XP SP2, textpad 4.7.3
If I edit a .bat file (right-click in explorer and select Textpad) and save it, then return to explorer and try to select any other file, windows will not release the selected-and-just-editted bat file. Only happens with batch files, not any of other program files. Repeatedly clicking (20 left-clicks) will sometimes release the file; jumping up one directory-level, then reopening the directory will always release it.
This problem didn't occur with my previous version of Textpad (don't know if it was 4.7.1 or 4.7.2), but I upgraded from 2000 to xp, upgraded textpad and went to new hardware simultaneously.
Any solutions?

Another application may be responsible for blocking the DDE mesages that TextPad uses for opening files from the Context menu. Try closing any other open applications and see if that helps.
If not, try temporarily turning off your virus checker and see if that makes any difference.

Batch File Locks
Could be SP2 - are batch files associated with any program (they shouldn't)

Outlook & DDE
Anyone has more info on Outlook & DDE problems?
References? Links? Fixes?

I can't give any more info.
I know it only from experience (from some years ago).
I had written a software that used dde quite a lot.
It worked wonderfully. On any machine that was not running Outlook.
When Outlook ran on the same machine, no DDE messages came through. If Outlook was stopped, suddenly all the missing messages came through.
