Ability to detatch/move tabs

Post by arcoleo »

One thing I do a lot (I'm at CS student @ UIUC) when I have programming projects that are for some unix platform at the lab is I "open" a cpp file through ssh file transfer. This will upload the file back to the server whenever it detects a change. However, since I often work with dozens of files, I view the ones I'm not editing in one textpad window and the ones I am in another, both filled with tabs. There's a problem though. If textpad is set to open multiple copies, applications will create a new instance for every file. If not, then all my files are in one instance. I want to be able to group files by basically configuring textpad to only open one session and be able to either right-click on a tab and "detatch", or just drag the tab off the window. Then I would like to be able to drag tabs from one textpad session to another. I notice that web browsers that support tabbing support this sort of functionality.
