Should there be a separate forum for issue tracking?

Important, even if the size/efficiency of TextPad forums is affected

Create a forum for bugs/issues/quirks

Post by talleyrand »

Since it's not immediately apparent to all people who hit these forums where issues should go, we should make a forum just for discussing potential issues with TextPad. As a bouns, it could help make it easier for people to find and research their bugs e.g. highlighting isn't showing up, turning off the current line highlighting, etc.

Perhaps just sticky those threads or create new ones with a good description and resolution?

I think it will just become one more forum to have things posted in the wrong area. When something does not work many people think it is a bug, when it may be lack of their knowledge, a feature that doesn't exist, a problem with their settings, etc. The same thing is true of some Enhancement Requests.

I really think that the few number of things are posted in Tips and Enhancements in error are not that frequent and friendly reminders that we have provided in the past should take care of it.

What about a bug tracker system instead?
