Is there a way to mark text and save marked text as a file?

You can Copy Other, Bookmarked Lines, then File, New and Paste into a new blank file, and Save it.

Could make a macro to do this if used frequently.

PS ... I don't think that Enhancement Suggestions is the right area for this type of question. Should probably be in the General Forum.

But I would like the feature added

Something easier than that. There should be a feature to mark text and save marked text to a file name. Wordstar used to have that 25 years ago.

Mark the text, go to File - Save As and mark the Checkbox "Selection Only".

Thanks MudGuard....new features to learn every day.

That box has always been ghosted out, and I never saw it, because I never had "selected", I had always bookmarked. When bookmarked, that option is not available. When selected, it is there SCREAMING at me. I actually looked for an option like that in my earlier response to use bookmarking. Almost added it to Enhancement Suggestions.

Guess this means I won't have to follow the earlier suggestion to dig out my old Wordstar diskettes and my 5 1/4" drive. I mean it was so good that is why it is still the standard

I have an idea for the menus

Under the Edit menu there should be a choice call "Selection" and under that is everything you can do with marked or selected text.

Edit / Selection /

Save selection to file
Delete
Copy
Reformat
Change Case
etc.

Yes - it's perhaps redundant. But it would be good for the users to find the command that does what they need to do.

My 2 cents .....
