2003 Server issues

Can any one tell me if TextPad 4.7.3 will run OK on Windows 2003 Server?

Coporate decision to upgrade server and workstations from Windows 2000.

Any special install/upgrade instructions for TextPad?

The only thing I found is

Minimum Requirements:

TextPad requires Windows 95 (SP1), 98, ME, NT 4.0 (SP6a), Windows 2000 (SP4) or XP.

Win 2003 not mentioned...

If it runs on 2003, you might also need a new TxpLink (if you use that at all) - but I don't know - I have no experience with Win2003

Humm, your workstations are to be upgraded to Windows 2k3 server? Such brave management you've got

In any case, I did once try transforming it to a workstation or a desktop, see here, and it went fine. Driver problems, sure, but this was over a year ago. I had no problems with applications, including TP, but pls note that I only started it once or twice.

MudGuard, I don't use TxpLink, so I probably don't need it. Too lazy to google tonight, any chance you can provide a quick explanation of what it is? Never heard of it. Got my curiosity up.....thanks...

Thanks s_reynisson for that link. This is not my management, but that of one of my clients. A major university upgrading their systems, involves a branch office that I support.

TextPad is only one of many programs I need to get a handle on before the switch. At least they had the forsight and respect to let me know in advance, and to ask which programs I was using, and would they run on 2003.

TxpLink is a tool to call Textpad whenever the system wants to start notepad. It can be found at the addon pages here

Oh yeah.......now I remember!...Thanks.

Actually installed that on my own machine many months ago. Totally forgot its name.....Now that I know, it will not be used at client, so not an issue, but thanks for the reminder.

I am using TextPad on a Windows 2003 Server. It runs fine, I only have trouble with accessing some network shares when TextPad notifies me when files I have opened are modified by other processes.

I have to turn that notification off ('Ignore' in prefs -> File). I miss that functionality a lot, but it's either that or stop using TextPad... Seems like it's a problem related to Anti Virus programs activity...

Thanks zsimic for that info. Dont' expect to have that conflict, but that is why I have asked. Many different things can be affected, and tough to think af all the possibilities ahead of time. Looking good so far, for my need to run on 2003.

All other inputs are welcome.
