How often are your search strings bigger than the search field?

Often - It would be a big help to have them larger!

Bigger text fields for search and replace

Post by wanderingstan »

The subject sums it up: I spend a lot of time entering big search expressions, and its a real pain to have to scroll through that tiny 30ish character text field.

I was tempted to switch to the darkside (EditPlus) to get this feature, but their implementation of RegEx is so bad I had to come back!

I've been using TextPad since '96, but as I get better at Regular Expressions I find myself getting more and more constrained by those little boxes!

Thanks! ResHacker is my new favorite program. I'm changing dialogs in almost every program now.

I remember using ResEdit back in my Macintosh days, but I never knew there was a similar program for Windows.

Nevertheless, I still think TextPad should have bigger boxes by default. But this will fix does the trick and I don't even have to wait for a new version.

Feel free to vote on it here http://textpad.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3890
Also, you might want to have a look at WildEdit over here http://textpad.com/products/wildedit/index.html
I use it a lot just to develop regex's and it's got a powerful regex engine.

What would really be best is if the search window were resizable.
