Move "changed" indicator to the LEFT instead of ri

Post by SamBarr »

Could the "changed" indicator be placed at the front of the file name
in the Document Selector instead of the end of the file name ?

On long file names, the '*' is not seen without moving the mouse
over it. If it was on the LEFT, all changed files would appear
slightly indented and the '*' would be seen at a glance.

Thank you,

Good point! I'll second that. Also, what about a color change for those lines?
Then I open up and see
the person fumbling here is me
a different way to be

Yes. I didn't dare ask.

It would need to be a very light color so as to not be distracting.
Maybe a change in font, italics, etc..

Thank you.

I agree. Asterisk on left and/or color highlighting would be helpful.

The way BBEdit (v8.X) on the Mac handles this is quite nice. This latest version avoids the traditional Mac practice of spawning windows all over the place and uses a document selector drawer. Changed documents are highlighted with a black diamond.

There's an example at http://www.barebones.com/images/bbedit/ ... -large.jpg

Cheers,

Steve

This request is SIX years old.
I am not sure who sees it. It is a problem for everyone and is a very
simple enhancement.

Does anyone address the problem with doing this ?

Thank you,

Helios does read the forums so they know of your request. It's probably on their to-do list along with several hundred other enhancement requests, but it's entirely up to them as to if and when they add features. They don't drop hints and none of us has any influence on the matter.
