Forward searching using ctrl-f generates search popup dialog

Post by jmiller »

Hi folks,
I'm expericeing a small but anoying problem. When I hightlight a string and perform a shift-ctrl-f, texpad srcolls up and finds the previous text as expected, but when I forward search using ctlr-f it always generates the search pop-up dialog. It never did this on my old machine (running windows 2000 professional). My new machine (xp pro) with the lateest version of textpad (4.7.2) seems to have this quirk. Why does the pop-up dialog appear?

best regards
John Miller

PS Textpad is a great tool!!!!

It sounds like you've assigned the shortcut key Ctrl-F to the command SearchFind, instead of to the default SearchFindNext.

Select Configure | Preferences...
Select Keyboard
Select Categories: Search
Select Commands: SearchFindNext
Press new shortcut key: Ctrl-F
Select Assign

(BTW, I've assigned Ctrl-D to the command SearchFindPrevious. Makes searching forwards and backwards very easy.)
